Adrian has been consulting in the TV industry since 1993 when he became a founder director of Southbank Consulting. He has completed countless assignments for blue chip clients, running teams of consultants working in some of the UK’s largest media companies. His early career experience prior to consulting was in engineering followed by several years in the international TV market. This background led him into assignments that dealt with the commercial exploitation TV technology as it went from analogue to digital and from a handful of channels to hundreds. Adrian consulted for Sky in the pioneering years of interactive TV and was responsible for developing their interactive advertising services which have led the world for the last decade. Ever wondered why the ‘red button’ is used for interactive services? Well that was him too, it was going to be blue. One little decision at Sky ten years ago and now it is ‘red’ for interactive the world over. You can’t have been involved in interactive TV for much longer than that! Adrian’s recent focus has been targeted TV advertising – If you have heard of ‘TSA’ or ‘Targeted Substitution Advertising’ you are looking at the man who coined that term. Targeting TV looks like being Adrian’s specialty for some time to come. It is a fascinating opportunity.
