Am I a Decipher person?
Decipher is a small, but dynamic consultancy where every employee takes responsibility for their own discipline, as well as playing a role in running the business. This presents a unique set of challenges to individuals who in a larger company would have been insulated by a client services team and ancillary staff. As a result, our employees are dynamic and independent individuals who possess a unique medley of skills and attributes.
Decipher People
· They are excellent sales people:
- We take every opportunity to sell and improve perception of our work and our consultancy. This requires an ability to decipher a client or potential clients’ existing needs, concerns and future work streams
- As much of our client contact takes the form of face-to-face meetings, excellent oral communication and presentation skills are highly valued; while through conversations and relationship we identify a client’s how we might best serve them at profit
- As a result, our employees are confident and possess gravitas in front of clients. They can maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues through times of high pressure, in addition, they will continue to shine in front of clients and communicate effectively and professionally
They are sensitive to the emotional issues, market dynamics and social factors at play in media and consumer behaviour
- Unlike traditional media planners, our work is not typically numerically based; rather it is conceptual. Decipher people therefore posses imaginative and creative skills. They are capable of envisioning future technologies and how they impact upon consumers
They are interested in technology:
- Our employees are fascinated by technology, but not for its own sake. Our employees are excited and interested in technology and it plays as big are part in their personal, as well as professional life
- Because we are a small consultancy, we have no dedicated IT support for our studios or offices. This means that we value hands on people who can pitch into solve an IT problem. As a result, our employees are probably more IT literate than average media folk
They can independently develop process and formats to work by:
- Because we are small, we often do not have established processes and formats for our work. This requires our employees to define scope and formats themselves, which requires the ability to envision how a research or consultancy project should be approached. In larger media agencies and consultancies pre-established formats and processes for more junior staff exist meaning this skill set is not necessary.
- Our employees also commence employment with a good understanding of standard business process. This can be as simple as writing a professional email, to compiling a Contact Report or Client Status Report
