'Drinking & Thinking' - Future TV Content Social Event
Sep 2010
On September 23rd Decipher are holding a Drinking & Thinking social, to look at the future of TV content. The event will take place at iBurbia Studios, Decipher's Future Media Lab in Chiswick.
The theme for the evening will be: ‘TV platforms are plugging broadband into the back of set top boxes like crazy, and we are now at the point where red button should be getting really exciting, but all we are getting is ‘TV Apps’ which are crap’.
The background to this theme is the belief that that this revolution should be being driven by TV programme people and it is currently being hijacked by software people who seem to think ‘apps’ are a good idea. I would like to invite you you to a small social event to discuss this. This will be the innaugral ‘Drinking&Thinking’ event we will be holding in our new media studios in Chiswick.
The intention is:
- To claim back ownership of the ‘futureTV’ debate for the content community
- To create some industry momentum around a set of programme types / ideas by putting people in touch with each other
- To create some consistency / common language in the way the industry talks about future TV
Drinks will be on Decipher - am in discussion with some people to demonstrate some programme concept work (will let you know nearer the time) – we will have a chance to examine the new Connected TV / App world at close range.
